However, there are pros and cons when thinking about if a wet room is the best fit for you. Here are some advantages and disadvantages to be aware of when deciding if it is a fit for your home.

What is a Wet Room?

A wet room is a type of bathroom specifically designed to get wet. They consist of a bathtub and a shower in one space. In a wet room, a shower and tub can be enclosed together behind a pane of glass, or be left open. Another option is having just the shower surrounded by glass and the tub beside it. Usually, it depends on preference and on whoever is creating the wet room. All the water goes down a flush drain located towards the shower section. These rooms are also easily accessible for people with mobility issues.

Con’s

When thinking about if a wet room is a good fit for you, it is important to know the cons. Everything can and will get wet in some way or another. There is a lot of excess moisture in a wet room. Meaning more money will need to be invested in the type of materials used. You need waterproof materials that can withstand getting damped with water. Although, getting durable tile can get pricey. Water draining issues can also occur if the wet room is not installed correctly. If it is not able to drain properly then flooding can happen throughout the entire house.

Pro’s

Just like the disadvantages, there is quite a bit of advantage to wet rooms. The first is that they are easy to clean. Wet rooms are always open and never have any shower curtains that need to be washed. The walls get washed while you are taking a shower. No need to wipe them down. Wet rooms also can be done in small bathrooms. It is a great illusion when working with minimal space. Lastly, they make the bathroom look bigger. There are fewer walls and no curbs. Making it one open luxurious space.
