I have clients ask a lot if accent walls are still “in” style. We all remember the early 2000’s when accent walls were being put in every room of every house. They became so popular so quickly because of the appeal of them being a safe way to add color, pattern or texture to a room without overdoing it. Because of this, accent walls won’t ever go out of style; however, they are becoming less common because people are more willing to commit to color, wallpaper or paneling throughout an entire room. One of the most misconceptions of accent walls is that they add color, texture or pattern to a room. While they technically do, when done right, they should tie together a palette instead.
