Decorating a Nursery
Creating a nursery is one of the most exciting projects to undertake when expecting a baby. Designing a new space for your child can be a stress-free process. This is where you will spend the majority of your time. Which is why it is essential to create a comfortable area, especially during those late nights. The ideas are endless, but what will be considered in style? If you do not know where to start, then this is the right post for you. Today's blog will talk about the theme, furniture, and the different stations to think about when creating a nursery.
Theme
In recent years, gender-neutral colors have become more popular than the standard blue and pink for a nursery. For example, something bold like a deep green or a dark orange. Then pick two soft colors, maybe a beige or an off white. This is because it allows for opportunities to have more fun with color. In total, you should stick with 2-3 colors. Another reason for different colors is that a lot of people do not want to wait for the twenty-week scan. For baby showers, you can let people know the color or theme. That way, friends and family can get things that go with the style of the room. Keep in mind how you want the nursery to feel. What furniture goes into a baby’s room is just as important as the theme.
Main Furniture
The main thing to be aware of is not to overcrowd the space. Most of the time, people tend to overcrowd areas with lots of furniture. Making a list of what is necessary is a great way to start when deciding the core pieces. Let’s start with the most important piece: the crib. Cribs can be used for 2-3 years, and if you plan on having more little ones, it can be reused. Do you want a bassinet or a conversion crib? Next, the second most important thing is a changing station and dresser. It is a good idea to get a dresser that has a changing station on top. Both will be used multiple times a day, so why not invest in something that is able to function. Lastly, there needs to be a comfortable chair. You can spend the majority of time in the chair with your baby in your arms.
Stations
This is an important factor when creating a comfortable nursery. Having designated areas for specific tasks will keep things organized. There are three main activities that will take place: playing, feeding, changing, and playing. It will also help when having to get up and go through the long night. Let's start with the first area nursing. When feeding your baby, it should be relaxing. It can make the biggest difference if you have the right set up. The chair should have nice padding and a throw pillow. A rocker is a good idea because it can help put the baby to sleep. The changing station is next. There should be enough storage for diapers, wipes, ointment, etc. Maybe even add some shelving for more storage. Finally, a play area for the baby doesn't have to be big. Just a small enough area for one-on-one play time.
