End Tables: What is Right For Your Space

To ensure that there is a place to put small belongings, there is an easy way to create an inviting atmosphere for yourself and your guests. End tables are an excellent solution to help create a relaxing area in a home. We all want a home that is welcoming and functional for yourself, family, and friends. Side tables can provide opportunities to bring in new shapes, styles, and materials. It can always be interchangeable, which makes it a great item to take risks on. In today's blog we will talk about the different styles, things to consider, colors, and materials when selecting side tables.

Different Styles

The different choices for end tables seem unending. There are squares, circles, rectangles, abstracts, and the list can go on. Keep in mind the style that you already have in a space. Classic side tables have a strong and bulky look. Typically, it is made out of dark, rich wood that is more formal. Another is rustic, and those have a distressed or weathered wood look. Then there is the French country that has more of a romantic feel. It has soft edges with lighter colored woods. Indusiral is next, with darker colors and metals for an urban feel. Lastly, modern is made out of all materials and is considered to be the most timeless. It usually does not have a lot going on.

What to Consider

There are four things to consider when picking the right side table for you. Function is first, how will you be using it? Think about how many items will be placed on the table. Will it need drawers, nesting tables, or just a surface? Following that, we have size, which is important. The reason why these tables are so low is so it is comfortable to reach when sitting down. The average height is between 18 and 24 inches. Shape is third, if you have a rectangle coffee table, try circular side tables. Do you want chunky legs or thin legs? Finally, durability is a key factor. Will it be in an atmosphere that can withstand getting accidentally hit?

Material & Color

After knowing the different styles and what to consider, now comes the fun part. Figuring out what color and style will look best. This is where you can bring in the different pieces. End tables can add a different color, shape, and texture yet still tie the final look together. For example, if you have been loving marble countertops but aren’t ready to commit, add in a marble side table. A wooden table can add warmth and create that organic feel. If you have the opposite problem of having too much wood everywhere, consider gold or bronze metal. Maybe there is not enough color in the space adding a colored table can fix that.
