How to Create a Luxury Bathroom

We've all experienced the luxurious hotel bathrooms that make you feel like you're in a spa. Most people desire a relaxing bathroom in which to spend time and unwind. There are numerous ways to create an aesthetically pleasing and calming bathroom. Today, we have many tips and tricks to help make a bathroom feel more luxurious. Here are some ways to help create a luxury bathroom.

Lighting 

Now, this is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. Lighting creates the mood in the atmosphere. Do you want the bathroom to have a good ambience? If it is early in the morning, no one wants to come into a room with bright lights that are blinding. The same goes for waking up in the middle of the night. Say it is bathtime, and you want to relax. Adjustable recessed lighting is one way to improve the lighting. That way, the light that enters the atmosphere can be adjusted. Add some soft wall sconces; it always helps to have that extra source of light. Sconces also do a wonderful job creating accent lighting. Putting lighting behind the mirror is another option, like in the photo above. Lastly, put some bold vanity lighting above the mirror.

Hardware

Changing out the hardware in a current bathroom can make a significant difference. The great thing about it is that it’s not too expensive to do. Hardware should always match, whether it is the faucets, vanity pulls, or the toilet holder. It improves the space's cohesion and flow. If the bathroom feels too cold, for example, there are too many light colors. Then add some warmth by adding brushed gold or bronze hardware. Gold and matte black give off more of that luxury feeling. Sometimes this small step can transform a vanity. Also, change out the showerhead. Maybe the current one is a bit old school. Go a step above and add a rain showerhead.

More Tips

Finally, we are going to give some more tips to consider when creating a luxury bathroom. The first option is to add some seating. In the picture above, there is a chair added if someone wants to do their hair or makeup. If there is empty space, put in a small bench, armchair, or ottoman. Next if the space allows for it, add a freestanding tub. This tends to be a statement-making luxury piece. A freestanding tub should be no smaller than 6" any less will look cramped in the space. Swap out the old math mats and towels. A Persian or Turkish rug will take the atmosphere a step further. These are sophisticated materials that can be updated with a splash of color.
