We all have probably run into some old wallpapers from time to time. Maybe you still have old wallpaper in your house or know someone who has it. In the 1960’s-80’s floral wallpaper was extremely popular. Everyone was putting it everywhere that they could. There is a love hate relationship with wallpaper being that it can be a pain to take off of the walls. Wallpaper has a bad habit of going in and out of style. In recent years it has been taking the design world by storm. Here are some things to know about wallpaper.

Different Kinds

There are a couple options when it comes to the type of wallpaper to use. There is paper wallpaper. Meaning that it is 100% paper coming from trees. An advantage from this is that it is more of a matte finish look. Non woven wallpaper can be another option. Which is combined with vinyl and natural fibers mixed together. It is more flexible and durable than paper. Vinyl wallpaper is another that is recycled plastic and is the one that can take the most beating. The last one we will talk about is peel and stick wallpaper. This wallpaper doesn’t require glue or water, it is basically like a sticker.

Different Designs

There aren’t only floral wallpapers anymore. Nowadays the different designs for wallpapers are endless. Let’s talk about some of them. Art Deco has been popular for a long time now. Bringing in the fun designs from the 1920’s, but at the same time giving it a modern twist. It is like a modern retro luxury style. Another well liked wallpaper is nature inspired. Whether that be having a forest, tropical leaves, or birds/animals. This has been a well known style because people like to bring the outdoors inside.  Creating a more calming atmosphere. The last one is abstract wallpaper. The neat thing about abstract is all of the different patterns and colors that can be used. Even different textures can be added to create an abstract design. This is a fun way to add an eye catcher to any space.

A Good Accent Feature

Choosing the right wallpaper can really liven up any space. It can set the tone, be a focal point, and add character to the atmosphere. It can also be a great way to bring in different kinds of arts. There are no limits when it comes to where to put wallpaper. It can be put in any space: bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, etc. Another lively option is wallpaper on the ceiling. It can help disguise awkward angles on the ceiling, and add more depth to the space.
